People often ask me “Why Boney Rat?” and I answer “I love bones and rats” and thus Boney Rat Artworks was born.

 

You can find Boney Rat Artworks, aka, Dallas Campbell residing on Triangle Mountain in beautiful Victoria, BC, Canada. I am often spotted at local markets showcasing a variety of art forms.

 

Born to an artistic mother and a father with a very creative way of putting pen to paper, I began my love for any type of creative outlet at a very young age.  With the winning of my first art contest at the age of four for a picture submitted by my kindergarten teacher, my own artistic journey began.

 

After having my first two children, I put down my art utensils and found that I didn’t have time to pick them up again until recently.  However my desire to create never left me and I found I was longing to release my inner creativity again.  First came the interest in bird and nature photography, followed by the making of greeting cards, then felt work and paper mache and finally reintroducing myself to acrylic and watercolour painting and trying my hand at needle felting for the first time.

 

As it is plain to see, I LOVE working with my hands and trying new art mediums.

 

My true love is painting and bird photography and you will find I often combine the two by painting birds I have photographed.

 

Through all my challenges over the years I have realized that you are never too old to follow your artistic dreams.
